Vintage look Black and Cream Purse Card

This was my favorite purse card that I made!  The paper I used was from the DCWV, LA CREME Stack.  This paper was tricky to work with. Two pieces glued together made it thicker, and more sturdy - almost like a thin chipboard.  The mostly black with cream pieces have black flocking which is really cool.

Pink Purse card

Hi again!

Here is another card that I made for my girlfriend for her to give as a teacher thank you card.  It's definitely not your typical thank you card! Apparently the teacher she is giving this card to is very  "Girlie"!  LOL

Thanks for stopping by.

Hope you have a great day!

Thank you card for Violin teacher, using SCAL2

*** UPDATE:  I entered this card on Alex's YOU HAD ME A CRAFT Made It Myself Monday's.

Wow, I can't believe it's been a month since I've posted.  Once the good weather comes, I typically spend most of my days outside puttering in the yard (weeding, planting, mulching, mowing, etc.) so that's what I've been up to.  Plus, I really haven't made anything exciting to share with you up until today.

A girlfriend asked me to make several teacher thank you cards for her.  I got all excited and was motivated to hit my craft room almost immediately.

The first card is for a violin teacher, which I created using SCAL2.  I found an image from the Internet and cleaned it up.  I had this image in my head of how I wanted the card to look like and I must say that I was more than pleased with this card.  When I showed it to my girlfriend, I thought she was going to cry, she loved it that much!

(pouch on left side for gift card)

If you have any questions on how I made the card, please don't hesitate to send me an email.

Thanks for looking.

Any Occasion Flower Card, non-Cricut

It's finally beginning to feel like Spring in the Mid-west.  The past week was nasty; cold, hail, wet snow, and freezing temps!  My poor daffodils took a beating.  Be GONE Winter!  HELLO Spring!  :)

This past week I made five cards for different occasions; two were sympathy cards, one get well card, one Easter card and one birthday card.  I started off making one card and liked it so much that I decided to use the same card for all five occasions and then just changed my sentiment accordingly.

Goodies used:
  • Papertrey Ink (PTI) cardstock; Sweet Blush (card base), Ripe Avocado (matting), Rustic Cream (stamped and heat embossed layer)
  • Stamp is Penny Black "Fireworks" and heat embossed with Stampendous "Blushing Pink" embossing powder
  • Ranger Distressed Inks used; tattered rose, victorian velvet, pumice stone, and bundled sage - LOVE this product!
  • Lightly stamped Script Stamp (Inkadinkado) with DI - pumice stone
  • PTI Ribbon Spring Moss and PTI button with Rustic Cream twine

Have a great weekend.

Ribbon Shelf made from Foam Core Board

Hope everyone is having an awesome day in Blogland!

I've been itching to organize my ribbon and when bloggers post pictures of their craft room reorganized my ears perk up (and my eyes bulge with envy!) as I'm always curious how people organize their goodies.  I consider myself an organized person and definitely craft/scrap better when my "goodies" are organized.  I used to store my ribbon in four picture-storage type boxes (grouped by color families) and every time I wanted to use ribbon, I had to open each box to see what ribbon I had on hand and then decide what I wanted to use.  Let me tell you, it was a pain!  :)

Finally, when I saw that Denise over at www.paperpastime.com created a ribbon shelf from foam core board, I decided to give it a try.  I bought the foam core board at Wal-Mart.  Denise used white foam core board and my Wal-Mart didn't have enough pieces of white (3 x 20"x30" needed), but they had ample sheets of black, which fit in better with my craft room decor anyway!

If you're interested in the tutorial, Denise has them posted on her website.  Her directions are very clear and I had absolutely NO problem following them.  I will say though, when using the black foam core board, my excess glue showed a little where it seeped through when I was putting the pieces together.  I'm the only one who sees it so it really doesn't matter. :)

Here are some pictures of my completed project:

It appears sturdy enough to attach to the wall, so that's what I'll likely do with it.

Total cost of the foam core board - $12.  Creating this myself - PRICELESS!

If you have any questions, please leave me a comment with your email address and I'll be happy to try and answer them.

Thanks Denise for sharing your talent and awesome project with us!

Happy Birthday card using Paper Pups, Cricut

This is another card I made for my son's birthday ~ given to him by another of his fur-sisters!  He has two fur-sisters, Lulu and Roxy!

All of the die cuts are from the Cricut cart. Paper Pups, with the exception of the fire hydrant and the green paper with the paw prints (both are from DCWV The Pet Stack).

The base cardstock is PTI "Pure Poppy" and miscellaneous scraps of paper were used to cut out the dog, the dog house, and the sentiment.  For the dog house, I embossed the white cardstock layer with my Cuttlebug folder Distressed Stripes, and then inked it lightly with Ranger's Antique Linen Distressed Ink.  The base cardstock was also embossed with the Fiskars "Paws" texture plate.

I also used Stickles for the party hat, which was from Paper Pups.  The "Happy Birthday" sentiment was also from Paper Pups.

Happy Birthday "Best Buddies" card for Boy, using Cricut

The above card was made for my son's birthday ~ given to him by one of his fur-sisters!  LOL

The image was cut from A Child's Year Cricut cartridge, along with the shadow feature (PTI Dark Chocolate).

I used ink blending techniques with different colored Distressed Inks to give the background layer some shading and color, as well as around the outside of my boy/dog cutout. I then stamped used Background Text Styles (PTI) with chocolate brown ink.  I LOVE this look!  I stitched around the outside of this layer with a tan colored thread.

To do the sentiment, I used an embossing pen to write the sentiment (it's not very straight though!) and then and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I also stiched the sides of the brown cardstock.
