Hawaii Word Book {work in progress} Page 13 and 14

Happy Spring!  It's raining here today, which I'm loving because the rain is washing away the snow and cleaning things up from winter.  Spring and Fall are my two favorite seasons.  Spring is special because I love when all things start to come to life - trees, plants, flowers and the birds are singing! I {heart} flower gardens!   The Fall is beautiful because of the colors.  We live in an area where a lot of trees change color.  Eventually the trees lose their leaves, but it can be breath-taking when all the leaves are changing colors from oranges, reds and yellows.

I'm moving along with my Hawaii Word Book and have completed pages 13 and 14 (and started working on pages 15 and 16 too!).  After I took the pictures (below), I added my doodling around the outside of each page (consistent with previous pages).  The background paper and embellishments used on both pages (green & white felt loops and various shaped brads) came from the collection "Summer Fun Summertime" from Queen & Co.  I purchased several different kits from Generations Crafting.  They have great prices on kits and clearances items (papers too) if you're looking for deals!

Page 13 below ~ for journaling I used a Stampabilities stamp that has loops to coordinate
with the felt loops! (I cut the journal paper in half and used the other half on page 14)

Hawaii Word Book {work in progress} Page 11 and 12

I'm finally getting around to working on my Hawaii Word Book again.  I am having SO much fun with this project.  I was in a little slump with crafting, other than the odd card here and there and then I ordered some new paper kits from Generations Crafting and now I can't stop!  (I actually used some of the paper in pages 13 & 14 so you'll see them soon when they're completed.)

If you're not familiar with the blog/website, Creations with Christina, you have got to see the mini album she is working on.  It's for her son and it's SO adorable!  Christina is very creative and I "borrowed" some of her ideas and incorporated them in to the next two pages.

Page 11 includes a mini album within this album.  I love all the ribbon used on this page.

Below is a close-up picture of the mini album which holds several
pictures and journaling.  I love this idea!

Page 12 below (I added some doodling on this page after I took the photo)

Ribbon layer was created by adding tape to the back of the ribbon
and them randomly folding the ribbon so it's layered.

In case you're wondering, the partial letter "O" that appears on page 12 on the right side will be covered with paper once I complete the Word Book.  I thought it would be easier to cover them all at once and then coordinate the colors.

Hawaii Word Book {work in progress} Page 9 and 10

Okay, so what happened in my life since January 30th, which was my last post?  It's called life.  I can't believe it's taking me so long to post.  So sorry it's taken me this long.  I've worked on a couple more pages of my Hawaii Book and am happy to share them.  I've also made some cards, but just haven't posted them yet either.

So, on to sharing my completed pages ...

Below is page 9

page 10 below ...

showing pages 9 and 10 together ...

The above pages were pretty simple.  I combined store bought embellishments and added some words "Strike @ Pose" using my Cricut.  Plus, I stapled some ribbon on two of the corners.  Oh, I also used my sewing machine and stitched the pictures on to the red matting.  You can click on the image to get a closer peek.

Hope all is well with everyone.  Is anyone ready for Spring as much as me?  It's snowing again in Wisconsin today and although I love the snow, I'm SO ready for it to be gone, gone, gone!

If you've taken the time to stop by for a visit, I thank you SO much!  Please leave me a comment and give me your blog/web address and I can come by and visit you too!  I seem to visit other peoples blogs more than I post on my own blog!

Hawaii Word Book {work in progress} Page 7 and 8

I'm moving right along with my little "Hawaii" Word Book project and am happy to show you a couple more pages that I completed.  Well, when I say completed, are layouts ever completed?!?!?  LOL  I tend to go back and add some little things like stickles, embellishments and doodling {which I forgot to do before taking the pictures below!}.

Hope you are enjoying seeing my creations 'cause I'm sure having fun doing them!  The below pages are two of my favorite so far.

Hawaii Word Book {work in progress} Page 5 and 6

Hope you're having a great day!  We have sunshine in Wisconsin today and it feels SO good!  The temperature is a little milder than it's been all week too.  I actually love winter but when it's bitter cold and there is no sunshine, it's no fun!  Next week is expected to be bitter cold again. :(

I 've been working on my Hawaii book during the week and have some more pages to show you {see below}.  I'm really having fun creating this project and am trying to use different techniques that I've learned over the last two years.

I like the look of tying the ribbon around the picture and the rhinestone emblishments were something I bought at Michael's for 50%.  My letter "A" {which is a part of my A L O H A} is yet to be covered.  I'll likely do that at the end, once all my pages are completed.

Thanks for stopping by.  Don't forget to leave me a comment and include your blog address so I can stop by and see what wonderful creations you've made!

Hawaii Word Book {work in progress} Page 4

Yay!  I completed another page in my Hawaii word book.  I'm addicted to working on this book now.  You will see in the picture (or you may not realize, ha!) that I still need to cover my letter "A".  It's the first letter of my " A L O H A" and with the completion of the book, I'll cover all the letters to coordinate with the albumn/book.

Above picture is of pages 3 and 4 together.

Thanks for dropping by.  Hope you a peaceful and enjoyable Sunday!

Jude

Hawaii Word Book {work in progress}

Hey folks!  I hope your New Year is going great and that if you've made any resolutions that you're able to stick to them!  If not ... don't give up!  Just try to get back on track.  :)

Just so you know, I haven't gone AWOL with crafting any projects/cards etc. lol  I've been busy working on a word book/album that I created for our Hawaii trip last fall.  This is my very first word book and I would be lying to you if I didn't say that it's a lot of work!  I'm really enjoying creating and putting it together though.

I haven't scrapped that long and I think I must be the slowest person putting it all together.  I struggle with putting everything together, including coordinating papers, embellishing etc.  But when it does come together, I get this tingling feeling inside and am SO happy with what I have accomplished.  Does that ever happen to you?  Maybe it's just me.  :)

There are so many people out there that have created word books and that have inspired me to give this a try.  Awhile back, I'm talk a lonnnnggg while back {last summer} I bought the Bind-it All at Hobby Lobby for half price and then picked up some chipboard along the way as I knew some day I wanted to do a word book.

And, very characteristic of me, I big off more than I chew!  I never start any small project, I just dive in with both feet and take on the "beast" of all projects! lol

Let me tell, what a nightmare I had with using the chipboard that I bought.  It was too thick!  I didn't help that my cutting mats weren't very sticky.  Note to self:  Only cut chipboard on brand new mat or barely used mat!  Thankfully the aid of painter's tape helped keep things in place.  Although my chipboard was too thick, I decided to use cardboard from several cereal boxes that I've been hoarding over the past few months.   I knew they'd come in handy eventually!  lol

With my Gypsy, I created the words "ALOHA as my word book {you'll see sample pages of the letters A L O H A as I complete more pages}.  I also did a cover page, which is shown below.  At the moment, I only have 4 pages completed, including the cover page so below are pics of what I've completed so far.  {Keep in mind, I'm a total amateur and this is my first chipboard project!}

Above is the cover page.
FYI, we went to Hawaii to celebrate my big birthday, hence the title "Hawaii 5 0".

Above is inside cover page.
Above is first page.
