Flip Flops fun card

Happy Monday!  I'm actually really happy that it's Monday.  This past week was filled with a lot of fun activities, including a soccer team pool party Saturday (at our house with 45 people!), but it was CRAZY busy.  As I said, lots of fun things going on but this week should be a little slower so I can catch up on all my sleep and house work ... and maybe do some more crafting!

Through my Brazilian girlfriend, I met her sister-in-law, who has been staying in Wisconsin with my girlfriend's family for the past 2 and a half months.   She is a wonderful lady and we have had so much fun together and we have become good friends too.  She has taught me some Brazilian Portuguese.  :)  As some of my readers may know, our son plays competitive soccer (with my Brazilian girlfriend's son) and as a result we have been invited to go to World Cup in 2014 in Brazil.  So, our goal is to save, save and save more in hopes of going to Brazil in 2014!  I also need to start learning to speak Portuguese!!!

Anyway, Joyce, is leaving to go back home to Brazil tomorrow and I wanted to make her a fun going away card.  This isn't your typical going away card, but I got the idea of making something fun for her since she has bought numerous pairs of flip flops while staying in the U.S.  Hopefully she will get a "kick" out of this card.  I thought it cute how it turned out.

Here are some step-by-step pictures of how I made the card:

1.  The flip flop die cuts are from "Life is a Beach" Cricut cartridge, and are welded together.  Card base layers cut at 5.53"W x 5.77"H.  Patterned paper layer was cut at 5.02"W x 5.11"H.

2.  Cut three 3/16" holes (cut with my Crop-A-Dile II) and then pull doubled ribbon through the top hole (twist ribbon so shiny side shows on top); cut the ribbon in half and pull each piece through the side holes on the flip flops (with shiny side or ribbon facing up on both pieces).

3.  Trim the ribbon on the back and then adhere the loose ends to the score-tape.

4.  Adhere the patterned paper to the black shadow layer of the flip flops (I used Glossy Accents).  Score the green layer of flip flops near the top and then add score-tape above the score line.  Assembly bottom and top layers.

5.  Completed card!

Fun & Elegant Dress Card

I've seen a few dress cards over the past few months and wanted to make one today for a girlfriend's birthday since she's all girlie!   I'm very happy how it turned out and hope she likes it!

I used my Gypsy, in shadow feature, and cut out 3 dress cuts from Gypsy Wanderings (the dress was 3.54 W x 5.08 L).   I decorated the top layer with different types of ribbon (secured by score tape starting from the bottom up), stamped small white flowers randomly and then added some pink bling.

The second dress layer was adhered to the back of the top layer so that the ribbon ends didn't show in the back.  The third layer of the dress was scored near the top of the dress and then score tape was added just above the score line and then this piece was adhered to the back of the top layer.  Does this makes sense?!?!?!

Goodies used ~
  • Cardstock - PTI Sweet Blush (dress)
  • Ribbon - PTI Raspberry Fizz Swiss Dots & Grosgrain 5/8"; Michael's misc. pink flower ribbon
  • Stamps:  PTI Stamps - Around & About,  small flower;  PTI Signature Greetings, "Hope your Day is Fabulous"
  • Ink - PTI Raspberry Fizz (for sentiment); ColorBox Frost White (small flower)
Thanks for stopping by.
